Starting in 2020, Zen Geomap began offering LiDAR mapping services. Drone-based LiDAR provides detailed mapping of terrain, even beneath dense tree canopy.

In July 2023, we conducted a LiDAR survey on a client’s mining claims at Barbara Lake in Northwestern Ontario. Using drone technology, we captured high-resolution images of the land surface through thick vegetation. The goal was to map the terrain and identify exposed outcrops that could be promising targets for further exploration.

The survey covered approximately 148 hectares and identified 35 outcrops across the property, representing about 60 percent of the area. This information provides a much clearer picture of where to focus future efforts, whether through field sampling, mapping, or more detailed geophysical work.

Zen Geomap was the first to file drone-based LiDAR as valid assessment work in the Province of Ontario. Since then, we’ve completed over 100 LiDAR surveys for clients including Newmont, Miller Group, Northern Sun, Villeneuve, WSP, and a long list of junior mining companies across Canada.
